Transforming Primary Healthcare

Through Innovations

WISH (Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare), established in 2014, is an Indian non profit working with a mission to provide high quality primary healthcare to all, particularly the underserved, by developing and scaling innovative models. WISH is the flagship initiative of LEHS( Lords Education and Health Society) and is registered in India since 2003 under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The organization is also registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010.

WISH has been doing pioneering work particularly in areas of Urban and Digital Health. It supports over 1000 Digital Health and Wellness Centers in various cities and states in India (urban and rural models) including Assam in partnership with Government, and has served over 30 million patients. WISH established an Innovation Unit at the National Health Authority of India (NHA) to provide support to 15+ digital health innovations such as Point-of-Care Devices (PoCDs), Smart Clinics, and e-Health modules by piloting and testing solutions in clinics, creating institutional linkages, and data intelligence. We have established Technical Support Units (TSUs) that aid in scaling effective technologies and solutions. Currently, we are engaged in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, and we wish to expand to other states and UTs in due course while working in tandem with State Governments, UN agencies and other development partners in the country.

Areas of Focus

Our areas of focus are  Urban Health, Digital Health and AI, Tribal Health, NCDs, Health System Strengthening, Unfinished agenda of MCH, Health Informatics  etc. and we continue to focus on improving the quality and access to primary healthcare services for the under-served communities in India. We unveiled  Wadhwani Institute of Digital Health in alignment with WHO’s Global Initiative for Digital Health, that was launched at the G20 Health Ministers’ Summit held at Gandhinagar in 2023.

In line with our commitment to align with the government’s agenda and address identified health needs and gaps, WISH employs a variety of customized models. For instance, we support the Government of Rajasthan in the direct implementation of primary healthcare delivery. Additionally, we provide advisory services to the Governments of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Assam, focusing on primary health, digital data monitoring, and capacity building within the primary healthcare ecosystem.

WISH also collaborated closely with state governments to augment COVID-19 vaccination efforts. The initiative reached out to five states (Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh) with the aim of reducing COVID-19 transmission, morbidity, and mortality. This was achieved through a multifaceted approach involving vaccination drives, community engagement, behavior change communication, and providing technical support and capacity building to the government.

Our Values

WISH is built upon a foundation of core values of CRISP (Compassion, Respect, Innovation, Speed, and Perseverance) to improve health outcomes and reduce the financial burden on beneficiaries. We embrace a holistic approach aimed at supporting systemic reforms that create a ripple effect, benefitting individuals and communities alike.

With a focus on leveraging digital technology and advancing healthcare solutions, WISH is poised to make a significant impact on the quality of comprehensive primary healthcare ecosystem.
