and played a seminal role in the successful campaign for eradication of Polio, the introduction of free third-line treatment for HIV/AIDS patients, and mainstreaming of accessibility issues for persons with disabilities. Apart from handling the delivery of health services, Mr. Verma also has expertise and experience in the field of finance, human resource, infrastructure development, and extensive coordination with multilateral agencies in the field of public health. He was instrumental in the launch of the Accessible India campaign aimed to develop and ensure fund accessibility to projects across the environment, transport, and ICT verticals. He was actively involved in the expansion of a network of super specialty hospitals (new AIIMS) with special emphasis on institution building. He launched the Bal Bandhu scheme in the area of civil unrest to protect the rights of children; monitored the implementation of the Right to Education Act; and contributed to the drafting of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He held many key posts across the Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education departments in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. In 2013, he chaired the UNAIDS Program Coordination Board in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2014, he was the leader of two important delegations. He led the Indian Delegation to Sydney and Manila with regard to the eradication of Malaria under the Asia Pacific Leaders of the Malaria Alliance. He was also the leader of the Indian delegation to the first Global Health Security Agenda Commitment Development meeting in Helsinki, Finland
